County Flat Roofing is now a member of the Government approved Competent Roofer scheme as implemented by the National Federation of Roofing Contractors. The NFRC was given permission to run the Competent Person Scheme by the Government for any and all roofing work, which will help towards improving the standards of the roofing industry and help to reduce costs on statutory inspections.

This means that roofing companies that carry the logo of the CompetentRoofer scheme have been approved as members of the scheme and are fully registered members and are now able to self certify for building regulations on most refurbishment work. Self Certification means a company representative will have to sign a document which will state that any work completed has been in total compliance with the Building Regulations.

Once the owner of the home or building receives their certificate they can pass this onto the relevant department for building control at their local authority, which subsequently means they will not have to pay for the cost of an inspection. However, being members of the scheme also means that roofing companies will have the authority to report any building owners that they believe to be not following any Building Regulations to the National Federation of Roofing Contractors. The NFRC will then forward this information to the appropriate bodies for further investigation.
